Who we are
animeclips.online is a brand and curated library of short anime clips for AMV editors and content creators. The brand is based in Quebec, Canada. For privacy law purposes, animeclips.online is the data controller responsible for any personal information you provide while using the site.
Information we collect
You can browse most of animeclips.online without giving us any personal information. We only collect what we need for the specific things you choose to do on the site.
When you visit the site
- Standard technical information such as your IP address, browser, and the pages you visit, collected through server logs to keep the site working and secure.
- Anonymous page-view statistics, only if you accept the analytics cookie. These do not identify you individually.
- Your cookie-consent choice, so we do not ask again for a year.
When you subscribe to the newsletter
- Your email address, used only to send you updates about new releases and to honor your unsubscribe requests. We do not use the newsletter list for anything else and do not share it.
When you support us on Patreon
- Your Patreon membership tier, so we can show you the perks for that tier. We never see your full payment details. Billing is handled entirely by Patreon under their own privacy policy.
Account-based features (in development)
Some account-based features are being built and are not generally available yet. When those features open, they may collect additional information such as a username, profile bio, links, and any content you choose to post. We will update this section before any new feature launches publicly.
How we use your information
- To keep the site running, fast, and secure.
- To send newsletter updates if you have subscribed, and to honor any unsubscribe request.
- To recognize your Patreon support tier and show the corresponding perks.
- To detect and prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.
- To improve the site through anonymous, aggregated analytics when you have consented to that.
Third parties who process data on our behalf
We share the minimum personal data needed with a small set of trusted service providers in the following categories:
- Hosting and storage for the site itself.
- Email delivery for newsletter and any operational emails we send.
- Membership and billing through Patreon, which handles all payment information directly.
- Anonymous analytics, only active if you accept the analytics cookie.
Each provider processes data on our instructions only and is bound by contract or by their own published policies to protect your information. We do not sell personal data, run third-party advertising, or share data with marketing data brokers.
Cookies and local storage
We use a small number of cookies and local-storage entries, all with clear purposes:
- Authentication – keeps you signed in between visits. Strictly necessary for the site to work.
- Cookie consent – records your choice on the consent banner so we do not ask again for one year.
- Anonymous analytics – set only if you accept the analytics cookie. Records page views to help us understand which clips and articles are read most. Does not identify you.
We do not use advertising cookies, behavioral tracking cookies, or third-party trackers. You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out.
Data retention
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it for. Newsletter subscriptions stay until you unsubscribe. Server and security logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted. If you have any future account or supporter data, it is kept while the relationship is active and removed promptly afterwards, except for the minimum data we are required to keep for legal, security, or fraud-prevention reasons.
Your rights under GDPR (European Economic Area)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to how we process it. Email [loading] with your request and we will respond within the time required by law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country.
Your rights under CCPA (California)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to request disclosure of the personal information we have collected about you, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal data, so the opt-out right is satisfied by default. Email [loading] to exercise the other rights.
Your rights under Quebec Law 25
As a brand based in Quebec, we are subject to Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. You have the right to access your personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, withdraw your consent to processing, and ask us to stop disseminating information about you.
Some of our service providers are located outside Quebec. By using the site you consent to the transfer of your personal information to those jurisdictions for the purposes described in this policy. We have assessed that these providers offer protection equivalent to what is required by Quebec law.
